Tillery return to winning ways

at Woodfield Road

Tillery had to endure http://sportzonabrasil.com.br/parimatch-app an anxious final few moments as they held on for a deserved win over a game Cockerels outfit at Woodfield Road. After something of a ding dong battle for over an hour, the Green & Whites opened up what appeared to be an unassailable 10-point lead going into in the last fifteen minutes with the home side pinned in their own half and down to 14-men through a sin-binning for their blindside flanker.

Then in the final minute of normal time, a counterattack hack downfield by Haydn Simmonds gave the hosts a hold in the Tillery 22. Kurtis Haile was shown yellow for killing the ball and Croesyceiliog used the extra man behind to work a converted try, narrowing the gap to three.

Referee Shaun Moore decided there was still time remaining and with the last play the Cockerels ran a penalty in their own half. But Tillery held firm and the home side were ushered into touch for the end of what was an entertaining encounter.

A short, sharp heavy downpour greeted the sides before Tillery exerted early pressure to no avail. Instead, Simmonds landed a penalty to put his side in front. Although the visiting scrum was suffering some discomfort, Tillery’s line out was functioning well and off the top ball sent Darren Miles through with the ball being sent wide for Haile to cross to gain a two point lead.

The home riposte came immediately. Stealing possession from the restart, they http://www.sportzonabrasil.com.br/parimatch-app worked the ball first wide right and then left to create an overlap for scrum half James Reed to scamper over. Within minutes though the game was level as Liam Crandon slotted a penalty.

H-T: 8 - 8

Tillery missed an early opportunity to regain the lead after a powerful Jon Price break gave Crandon a chance with a penalty. It just failed to make its target, but the outside half made no mistake very shortly afterwards with a further attempt.

The hosts almost dragged themselves level with a dropped goal effort that went narrowly wide. With their scrum enjoying the upper hand at this stage, it was something of a surprise that they elected to kick for goal to square matters when awarded a penalty five metres out.

After that though, the visitors started to assert themselves. They nullified the home scrum advantage and several powerful forward drives gave them good field position. A third penalty by Crandon edged them in front and then his delightful short pass put Craig Meredith in space. He found Haile in support and the wing drew the home cover before giving to Miles who raced under the posts.

The hard-working Dafydd Cripps went close to getting a third Tillery try as the pack drove impressively. But the home https://www.sportzonabrasil.com.br/parimatch-app side held on before that late surge nearly brought them more than the bonus point their efforts deserved.
